FoodDrinkEurope joins DG Agri at Bruxelles Champêtre
On Sunday 21 September, FoodDrinkEurope joined the European Commission’s Agriculture stand at an event that takes place every year in the centre of Brussels at Place des Palais, called ‘Bruxelles Champêtre'.
The main purpose of this event, which is organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development, is to raise awareness among the larger, in particular urban population of Belgium, of the multiple roles farmers play in our society. In addition, the event aims to improve awareness of the Common Agriculture Policy’s important role in guaranteeing for European citizens, healthy and quality food products.
FoodDrinkEurope was present at this event to highlight the important role the CAP plays in guaranteeing a steady supply of agricultural raw materials for Europe’s food producers. It was a good opportunity to meet with the public and explain the important role that the food processing industry plays in the food supply chain. The event is particularly geared towards families and young children and with this in mind, FoodDrinkEurope created a series of postcards for colouring for children to enable them to learn in a fun way how agricultural products make their way from the farm to the fork.
