A Time to Act - Climate Action and the Food and Drink Industry
Environmental Sustainability
FoodDrinkEurope has carried out a survey amongst its members, capturing current and future actions they develop to counter climate change.
Food security, one of the biggest challenges of the coming years, will increasingly be affected by climate change, whether in terms of production or price stability. The food and drink industry is 100% dependent on the climate for the production of the raw material it transforms. The results of the survey are a clear call to action for policymakers, showing that the food and drink industry wants to be part of the solution. So much so that 95% of the respondents have already integrated climate change into their business strategy while 83% see climate action as an opportunity to promote more resilient food production systems.
This call for action will continue to be promoted to policy-makers and in various fora until the COP21 meeting next December.
