Data & Trends of the EU Food and Drink Industry 2017: latest edition now available!

FoodDrinkEurope’s latest Data & Trends report has just been published, including key figures and insights on the food and drink industry’s economic performance, which is the largest manufacturing industry in the EU.
This year’s edition of the Data & Trends report includes new pages on the Single Market, the EU27-UK trade relations, in light of Brexit, and innovation activities. Addressing the issue of alleged dual quality

Political authorities in several Central and Eastern European EU Member States have alleged that the food products sold to consumers in their markets are of inferior quality compared to similar products sold in Western European ones. The food and drink industry is taking these allegations very seriously; all consumers are considered as equal and deserve the best quality and the highest safety we can guarantee. Read more

A Single Market for Food

January 1st 2018, will mark the 25th anniversary of the European Single Market. Even those of us who were around beforehand have generally forgotten what it was like travelling, working, getting healthcare or living in another European country. While we take the Single Market for granted, it is when we meet an obstacle to business or private plans that we realise how much things have already changed. And yet, many obstacles remain to the free circulation of people, goods, capitals and services, the four basic principles on which the Single Market rests. Read more
