New Industry Commitment to Balanced Diets and Healthy Lifestyles

FoodDrinkEurope recently launched a commitment titled “Framework for Action on Diet, Physical Activity and Health", to mark the 10th anniversary of the EU Platform for Action on Diet, Physical Activity and Health. The Framework Commitment will further reinforce its action in support of the Platform as it will gather a wide range of existing and new commitments taken by national federations, European sectors and individual companies, including SMEs. EU agri – food chain partners meet with Japanese delegates

In July, EU agri-food chain partners - CELCAA, Copa-Cogeca, and FoodDrinkEurope – organised a reception in celebration of the Japan – EU partnership. The event, organised during the 11th round of negotiations in Brussels, brought together representatives of European agri-food chain organisations and Japanese government officials. Read more

A Time to Act - Climate Action and the Food and Drink Industry

FoodDrinkEurope has carried out a survey amongst its members, capturing current and future actions they develop to counter climate change.

Food security, one of the biggest challenges of the coming years, will increasingly be affected by climate change, whether in terms of production or price stability. The food and drink industry is 100% dependent on the climate for the production of the raw material it transforms. The results of the survey are a clear call to action for policymakers, showing that the food and drink industry wants to be part of the solution. Read more

A Taste of Tomorrow: FoodDrinkEurope Congress 2015:

From 29 June to 3 July 2015, the European Food and Drink Week at EXPO Milano served as the backdrop for FoodDrinkEurope’s Congress. The focus of EXPO Milano is “Feeding the planet, Energy for life” and it runs until the end of October in Milan. The FoodDrinkEurope Congress was held at the EU Pavilion of the Universal Exhibition. Each day of the week addressed key challenges and opportunities the sector is facing.

The Congress was a very successful event with an impressive line-up of speakers, including Commissioner Phil Hogan and Commissioner Elzbieta Bienkowska.

Our hashtag #tasteoftommorrow became a trending topic on Twitter in Belgium while we also gained more than 2,600 followers over the 5 days. Read more

Francesca Bignami has joined FoodDrinkEurope since Wednesday 1 July, as Manager of Economic Affairs. Francesca is in charge of issues related to agricultural raw materials, CAP, biofuels and derivatives. She manages the AGPO working group as well as the BIOFUELS and DERIVATIVES Taskforces. Moreover, she works on data compilation and economic analysis in relation to the competitiveness of the food and drink industry. Read more
