The new High Level Forum for a better functioning food supply chain ready to kick off its activities
The High Level Forum (HLF) for a better functioning food supply chain, the mandate of which has recently been renewed for another 4 years, will start its ambitious new line of work shortly under the chairmanship of Commissioner Bienkowska. The Forum’s mission will be to assist the Commission with the development of industrial policy for the agri-food sector up to 2019.
22 organisations have been selected to join the Forum, together with the 28 Member States. Gilles Morel, FoodDrinkEurope’s President, was appointed to this Forum to represent Europe’s food and drink industry, along with three more FoodDrinkEurope members from EDA, CLITRAVI and spiritsEUROPE.
FoodDrinkEurope was an active contributor to the previous High Level Forum during which a number of projects and initiatives were completed, and is committed to continue providing valuable input during the new mandate.
The first meeting of the HLF Sherpas is scheduled for 18 February. The priorities for the upcoming work of the HLF will be discussed, based on the list of topics unanimously approved by the Forum on 15 October 2014.
