Last year, we launched the campaign Small Scale, Big Impact to promote the importance of European food and drink Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) to European policy-makers. This year, we are expanding the project to include more SMEs across Europe with additional support from the European Institutions. To achieve this we have connected with key Members of the European Parliament from all 28 member states, inviting them to select an SME from their region that deserves greater recognition.
With the support of MEPs, our ambition is to showcase the wide variety of innovative and traditional products that Europe’s food and drink SMEs produce. To date, 12 MEPs from 11 member states, representing the 4 main political groups, have nominated 16 SMEs from a variety of product categories. Our ambition is to have all member states represented. The project will culminate in a high-level MEP event in the European Parliament during the European SME Week in November showcasing the SMEs involved.
